to draw an animal from memory and to draw an animal by eye, creates two completely different creatures. to train this skill i visited the zoo to capture the realness and movement of different species in quick paintings, museums with taxidermies for more detailed sketches and drew from many photographs to study colour and shape closely. as a drawing experiment, i also drew five otters with pencil, fineliner, markers, watercolour and ink, to see how the medium influenced the artwork.
